Did you know that an entire Gnostic Polytheist commentary needed to be written on the Mithras Liturgy?
Were you aware that there are three major, important parts of the plot of every apotheosis narrative?
Did you know that people who have deity shards in their souls need an entire suite of magical techniques written to help them:
A. See the future
B. Influence reality through their divine office
C. Not lose their authentic self in the midst of their deity-sharding?
… and that these things can all be derived from the Mithras liturgy?
I discovered all of this while trying to revise what I thought was a finished manuscript that just needed some footnotes.
FML.
Alas, I’m not surprised…
I had hoped to attend a paper a few weeks ago on the Mithras Liturgy at the International Congress on Medieval Studies in Kalamazoo, but was not able to because I had to get my luggage at the airport (long story!). There’s a lot in that text, to be certain…things that can (and should) be studied and worked with by people who are not Mithras-connected.
In any case, I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Sounds great! I can’t wait! 😉
I’m sorry for you that the project has sprawled yet again…but can’t wait to read the published product!
