This is Ares. He likes war and all, but he's looking for a day off to go spend with his girlfriend(s). You can help by voting for candidates who are opposed to our engagements with nameless "terror organizations" which might include anyone. Really, literally, anyone.

This is Thenea and her deific friends reminding you to GET YOUR ASS INTO THE DAMN VOTING BOOTH.

There is a 90% chance (since you are reading this) that you belong to a minority religion in a country careening towards a Theocracy.

There is a 60-70% chance that you are someone with a low-income job in a country careening towards a Plutocracy.

There is a 51% chance that you are a woman in a country that is looking to make your health and reproductive choices for you.

There is a 100% chance that you are a person in a country that wants to invade your privacy.

If you have been looking for ways to fix these problems online through online polls and “MoveOn.org” style organizations, good for you. The best and most powerful thing you can do is:

  • Know the political players in this election
  • Know who funds the candidates
  • Know the candidate’s voting record
  • Do research
  • Share research
  • VOTE!

These things are more effective than:

  • Doing a magical working “for the highest and the best”
  • Hexing the crap out of a politician you don’t agree with
  • Promising a perfect hecatomb to Athena or Zeus if they fix the problem
  • Sitting on your butt and watching Game of Thrones
  • Going to the SCA, and pretending that you live in Camelot (Though it may be tempting…)

Because it bears repeating: Do research. Share research. Vote.

Athena has listened patiently to your excuses, and is not impressed. Know your candidates, and choose well. Yeah, it's late in the game. Think of it like cramming for a multiple choice test.
